Posh and snooty is the best way to describe Captain Peacock. He is in charge of watching the floor whilst Mr Rumbold is in his office. However this can often go to Peacock's head due to his military background. He often brags about his experiences during the war. Despite the term Captain he actually started out sweeping the floor in Grace Brother's but gradually pushed through to become the Floorwalker of the department.
He also likes to show his authority over the staff that work in maintenance however it usually results in a lot of rudeness from them. Peacock also seems to use his title to take an advance on the ladies who work in Grace Brother's. Namely Miss Brahms, the secretaries and on the odd occasion Mrs Slocombe. This generally results in the appearance of Mrs Peacock who one chased an innocent Mrs Slocombe around with her umbrella.
