Mrs Slocombe was born in 1926 in Blackpool. She is the Head of the Ladies Department and is the lady with outrageous florescent hair colours. She lives alone due to her husband leaving but has the small company from her cat "Tiddles" otherwise referred to as "my *****" which leads to double innuendo's.

Mrs Slocombe is actually very snobbish and has an extremely posh voice. However that all changes when she looses her temper (especially with Mr Lucas who likes to give her a lot of cheek) and then it switches to quite a noticeable Northern accent. Like Mr Humphries, Mrs Slocombe has several catchphrases. Her most noticeable catchphrase is "...and I am unanimous in that". She also uses the catchphrase "Weak as Water!" on several occasions. The most notable is when she smashes a manikin bust over a thief's (which turned out to be the store detective) after the rest of the staff refuse to take the situation into their hands.

She often goes out with her friend Mrs Axelby to try and get young men to come up to her. Due to her middle age they often keep a distance from them.

Mrs Slocombe often appears in the ridiculous going's on within the store which quite often ends up to be an absolute shambles. However this does not seem to bother her. What bothers her more is the stupid display stands that she keeps getting. She normally has nothing good to say about them and demands for their removal from the department. Other than that she strongly believes that sales would improve in her department with the complete removal of the Gentleman's Department.
