Wendy RichardWendy was born 20th July 1943 under the name of Wendy Emerton in Middlesbrough. She attended a school in Rickmansworth before attending the Italia Conti Academy stage school. She first starred in a soap called The Newcomers. She appeared on TV throughout the 1960's and made two Carry On films.

In 1972 she appeared as the Cockney Miss Brahms. She appeared in all 69 of the episodes. Whilst playing Miss Brahms (with Grace and Favour as well) Wendy played the mouth of Walford Pauline Fowler in Eastenders. She only left the role of Pauline behind her in 2006 after appearing in 1,072 episodes. She has not appeared in a TV show since leaving Eastenders but is due to start making a new TV series which is being written by David Croft who wrote Are You Being Served?.


In 2007 she recieved the Lifetime Achievement Award.

After discovering she had cancer she married her long term partner John on the 10th October 2008. Wendy died at the age of 65 on the 26th February 2009 after a long battle with cancer.
